Africonomics and the Rebirth of Civilization: A Moral Vision for a Truly Civilized World

Abstract:

This paper challenges the prevailing conception of civilization—defined by material progress, technological prowess, and domination under the Western worldview—demonstrating that it is narrow, mechanistic, and fundamentally flawed. It offers a redefinition and reconstruction of human civilization based on the natural-moral law principles of truth, justice, and nonaggression. It critiques the Western paradigm as Darwinian, animalistic, and inherently uncivilized, rooted in racism, statism, and structural injustice. It affirms that a society cannot be considered truly civilized if it systematically relies on coercion, deception, repression, and aggression—even if it is materially advanced. Africonomics asserts that moral development, not material progress, is the cornerstone and essence of human civilization. This paper contends that only fundamentally ethical and structurally just socioeconomic systems, grounded in natural-moral law, can lead to a genuinely civilized world. It concludes that Africonomics provides the intellectual and moral foundation for such a transformation, offering Africa the opportunity to lead a global rebirth of civilization.
